What is TextMaster?
TextMaster is an online platform that allows writers and translators to earn money by working on assignments from a list of available projects. TextMaster takes care of all the administrative aspects, including finding the customers and determining the rates. Unlike other freelance job sites, TextMaster has a fixed rate per word, which only increases the more and the better you write. No more bidding on the lowest price to win projects.

Who is part of the TextMaster community?
Writers and translators are carefully selected based on their experience and skills. Our community consists of thousands of experts in 10 languages and over 40 fields of expertise.
Who are TextMaster's clients?
TextMaster's customer base ranges from individuals, small businesses, to large international corporations.
Is it free to register on TextMaster?
Yes! You can create a free account on TextMaster as a writer. To register and start working with us, click here.
Will my information be visible to anyone?
TextMaster is a closed, anonymous platform. This means that at no time will the details of a writer/translator or client be communicated or broadcast to the other parties. We do display first names to allow writers and clients to have more personal interaction when sending messages. All other information is not visible to the client.
Why do I need to give my mailing address when I register?
In order to guarantee the reliability of the proposed services, TextMaster has to check every application as thoroughly as possible. Therefore, in order to confirm their real existence, we ask each writer/translator to provide their postal address.
How do I submit my application to become a writer, translator or proofreader?
To join our community, you can get started by taking a qualification test for the activity and languages that you are interested in. For example, if you are trilingual in French, German and English, with English being your native language, you can take the test to translate from French and German into English. You can also apply to become an English writer and proofreader.
Please note that we only accept native speakers for all of our projects. Your application will be evaluated by our in-house Language Managers, who will either accept or reject your application.
How long will it take for my application to be processed?
Every application is evaluated manually by our team of Language Managers. If you have registered as a professional writer or translator, we will review your application and send you a specialized test if your profile matches our needs. If you have registered as a non-professional writer or translator and taken the relevant test(s), your application will be processed within 2 to 3 weeks. However, this processing time may be slightly longer if we have an unusually large influx of new applications. You can also find your application status in your writer/translator profile.
Why has my application been turned down?
TextMaster has built a reputation on providing high quality work for its clients. For this reason, we set very high standards for our writer/translators and if your application test does not meet our standards in terms of spelling, syntax or vocabulary, we cannot approve it.
My application has been turned down. Can I try again?
Yes. If your application was turned down by our team, you have one more chance to take the test. Make sure you take careful note of the reasons that were given for the rejection on your first attempt.
Can I add new skills/activities to my profile?
Yes! You can add more activities to your profile at any time. For example, you are bilingual in English and French and you have registered (and been accepted) as an English writer. After several weeks, you want to take on more projects from TextMaster. You can then take the qualification test to become a French to English translator. If your application is accepted, you will have access to TextMaster copywriting and translation projects on the platform.
If you wish to add new skills, such as being able to work on html and photoshop files, you just need to update your profile here.
How do I remove an activity from my profile?
You can remove an activity from your profile by clicking on the activity (Copywriting, Translation, Proofreading) at the top of your dashboard, then clicking the Remove button beside the activity. You will then only be notified about projects for the remaining activities.
If you decide to add the activity back to your profile, you will need to retake the qualification test.
Can I work in more than one language?
For quality reasons, you can only work in your native language. This means that if English is your native language, you can only take the tests to be a copywriter and proofreader in English and a translator from the different languages you know into English.
I want to take a test but I can’t find my language pairs.
If you don’t see certain languages in the dropdown menu that means that we are not looking for those language pairs at this time.
Can I access projects before my application has been approved?
After you have completed the tests, you can see the available projects on TextMaster. However, you cannot work on any until your application has been approved.
How do I close my TextMaster account?
To suspend or remove your TextMaster account, you only need to send us your request using the form in the Support section.
Earnings and Prepayment
Why does TextMaster take a commission?
The commission supports two important facets of TextMaster in order to ensure that we have the best platform to connect businesses with freelance writers and translators. The platform was developed in-house and is continuously being improved to make work with TextMaster as easy as possible. Behind the platform, we have a team that takes care of the business side for you - finding the clients, marketing, accounting and production management.
When and how will I be paid?
You can request to be paid the full balance of your account at anytime after your earnings have reached $65. Simply click on Empty Wallet in the administrative section of your dashboard.
Do I need to have a PayPal account to be paid?
Yes, it is necessary to have a PayPal account to receive your earnings. You can create one for free by clicking here.
How long will it take to be paid?
Payments are processed once per business day.
How much can I expect to earn through TextMaster?
This depends on a number of factors, including your skill level, production volume, technical skill and the project that you choose to work on. On average, our writters and translators receive between 1.4 and 13.7 cents per word.
How can I earn more?
There are several ways of increasing your earnings through TextMaster: experience and qualification. The more content a writer/translator writes, and the higher his/her qualification, the higher his/her earnings will be. Therefore, for an equivalent task, a writer/translator who has already produced millions of words for TextMaster will be better paid than one who has only just registered. I am a Standard writer/translator, why was I paid at a Regular rate?
Your level (Basic or Standard) determines which types of projects you can see (Basic or Standard). Your rate depends on the type of project, not your level as a writer/translator, so it is important to check the rate of each project before you accept it.
Can I set my own rate for the content that I am writing?
No, the rates are determined by TextMaster. The aim of this approach is to guarantee stable pay for the writer/translators and to avoid competition for the lowest offer.
How can I level up?
Our team constantly monitors our writers' and translators' progress. The more you write for TextMaster, the higher your rate per word.
How can I become an Expert writer/translator?
If you have expertise in a specific domain, you should let us know. Contact Support and provide documents proving your expertise (diplomas, articles, etc.) Our team will review these elements and modify your level if necessary.
What is Quality Control?
Certain files must go through Quality Control before they are sent to the client. Our proofreading team reviews these texts and can ask for a revision if it is deemed necessary. The changes should be made in less than one business day to avoid delays for the client. Otherwise, the document may be repossessed and reassigned to other writers/translators. Be careful: too many requests for revisions can result in your level being downgraded, temporary suspension of your account, and eventually, your account being blocked entirely.
The keywords requested by the client contain errors.
Once a client requests that certain keywords be included, they must be written as is for the system to take them into account. Keywords may have spelling or grammar mistakes, but neither the Quality Control team nor the client can hold you accountable for them.
However, in an effort to provide the highest quality work possible, we encourage you to send a message to the client informing them of the error and asking if they would like to keep the original keywords or change them. In the case that they wish to change the keywords, they must contact customer support.
May I reuse content already published elsewhere (website, press release, etc)?
No. Producing original content is the most important requirement for every writer/translator who writes, proofreads, or translates content through TextMaster. Any content that is found to contain all or part of a previously published text will be turned down. The penalty imposed on the writer/translator may go as far as immediate exclusion from the community and the loss of unclaimed earnings. We use a verification software to check all submitted work against all previously published content.
Why can’t I upload the translated file onto the platform?
Our platform allows you to only upload the same file types as the original file submitted by the client. For example, if the client sent an .XLS file, you can only upload a .XLS file with the translations, not an .XLSX.
The client requested several projects that seem to be the same. Can I submit the same text for all of them?
No, you may not. Each document must be unique. A client may request texts that seem very similar, but it is absolutely imperative that each text is different.
What happens if a client asks for changes?
The client has the right to ask for revisions of submitted texts. They may do so if they feel that the submitted work does not match their specifications in the briefing or that the work has errors in spelling, grammar or vocabulary.
What happens if a client rejects the work that I submitted?
TextMaster allows clients to reject work that they feel does not comply with their specifications. Every assignment that is turned down is evaluated by the TextMaster moderators, who establish whether the rejection was justified. If the moderator agrees with the reasons given by the client for the rejection you will have to complete the assignment again until the client is satisfied. On the other hand, if the moderator disagrees with the client’s request, the assignment is automatically considered as accepted.
What copyrights does the writer/translator retain?
For each assignment, the writer/translator retains authorship rights over the content. This gives the writer/translator no prior right as regards to the use of the content, and no assignment carried out through the intermediary of TextMaster allows writers/translators the right to ask for identification of any kind.
Will I be identified as the writer/translator of the work when it is used?
No. All content produced through TextMaster is transmitted to the client along with all rights of ownership and use. Writers/translators may not request identification of any kind.
