Every calendar year is dotted with dates when companies can boost their e-sales. To help you keep on top of these spikes in sales and plan your e-shop inventory, we’ve got a little gift for you. Key e-commerce dates in January 2025
January: start of the winter sales
European countries hold two sales periods each year: one in winter and one in summer. In 2025 and as with every year, most European winter sales will start in January. For example, they’ll kick off in France on Wednesday 8th January 2025.
Monday 20th January: Blue Monday
The third Monday of every January is nicknamed “Blue Monday” because it’s considered the most depressing day of the year. Consumers indulge in retail therapy or book holidays to chase away the winter blues. So, this is one day you shouldn’t miss! We recommend you offer free delivery and one-off discount codes, especially if your product or service is related to wellness or tourism.

Friday 14th February: Valentine’s Day
Whatever your industry, note Valentine’s Day on 14th February in your e-commerce diary. According to a study conducted in 28 countries by the company IPSOS, 55% of adults who are in a couple celebrate Valentine’s Day. And buying their special someone a present is par for the course. 14th February is therefore an important date for e-retailers around the world.

International Women’s Day: Saturday 8th March
Countries across the globe will celebrate women’s rights on Saturday 8th March 2025. It’s the perfect time to showcase your company culture by donating a percentage of your day’s sales to a charity that, for example, supports women’s rights and/or combats violence against women.
Monday 17th March: St. Patrick’s Day
St Patrick’s Day celebrates the Republic of Ireland’s religious and cultural heritage. However, it’s also celebrated in other countries, notably the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, the UAE and Singapore. If your customers live in one or more of these countries, holding a St. Patrick’s Day promo could be worthwhile.

Tuesday 1st April: April Fool’s Day

Sunday 20th April: Easter
In 2025, Good Friday falls on 18th April and Easter Sunday on 20th April. We want to remind you of the dates now, as online shopping tends to increase as the Easter holiday approaches. And for good reason too: lots of consumers like to buy small gifts to send to their loved ones. This Public Holiday is particularly important for online chocolate sellers.
Wednesday 23rd April: World Book Day
Do you run an online bookshop? Then note Wednesday 23rd April 2025 in your diary. To mark World Book Day, you can highlight your bestsellers of the month on your website, offer a one-off discount on comics and/or launch an e-commerce affiliate program to attract new readers.

Sunday 4th May: Star Wars Day
May the “fourth” be with you on Star Wars Day!
You can reference the film in your communications or highlight a promo on your e-shop’s main landing page. This is a great way to attract Star Wars fans.

Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th July: Amazon Prime Days
This is perhaps the most important date in the 2025 e-shop calendar. This event runs for two days and draws in bargain hunters from all over the world. As an e-retailer, you shouldn’t take Amazon Prime Days lightly. They’re a great way to boost summertime sales.

Pink October
There are various online marketing campaigns that you can set up for Pink October.

Saturday 4th October: World Animal Day

Friday 31st October: Halloween
Do you sell sweets, chocolates, fancy dress or spooky decorations? Get ready to see your sales soar leading up to Halloween! 🎃

Unlike Black Friday, which covers products from all sectors, Cyber Monday focuses on the high-tech and household appliance sectors. This year, it will take place on 1st December.
Monday 8th December: Green Monday
Green Monday usually falls on the second Monday in December. This is one of the most important online shopping days of the winter season. Created by eBay in 2007, Green Monday is THE day to offer last-minute deals while guaranteeing pre-Christmas delivery.
Thursday 25th December: Christmas
Christmas is the final opportunity to boost the year’s turnover. And the great thing about the festive season is all products and services are in high demand.
